D. A. V. SANSKRITI SCHOOL
DAV Sanskriti School is committed to bring East and West together with their best. As our children grow in the wonderful land of opportunities in the USA, we ascertain that they pick up the time tested ancient Indian values so that they maintain a high moral ground based on Ahimsa, Satya, Asteya, Brahmacharya and Aparigraha – desisting from hurting, telling falsehood, stealing/cheating, lust and hoarding – the five elements of Yama in Patanjali's Yoga-Darshanam. Also, they inherit strong family bonding that they pass on the value of united family to their next generation – sarvebhavantusukhinah. They inspire their minds and actions from the Supreme Consciousness – Dhiyoyo nah prachodayat. They will learn to be proud of themselves with a healthy body in a strong and calm mind.
Why DAVSS?
How the DAV Sanskriti School helps in making a good human being:
Strong and Healthy Body: We have a body. We eat food and drink water for the body. Our body should be strong so that we can play well and for long. But strength is not enough, it should be in good health too. We should not fall sick. Health and strength of our body is the first requirement to be a good human being.
Intelligent and Cool Mind: We may be weaker than big animals like horse, camel, elephant, etc. in body but our mind is more powerful than any animal's. To be a good human, our mind should be intelligent. But it does not help if we get angry even if we are intelligent. Nobody pays attention to an angry person. Be Cool, too.
Morality: Well, I have a strong and healthy body with an intelligent and cool mind then I should be a good human being. Yes, I am a fantastic person but only as an individual. But I live in a family and interact with my friends and so many others. If I speak lies then I will lose others' trust; I must be honest and truthful. If I bully or hit then it hurts; I must be friendly and kind to others including animals and birds as they too feel the pain.
Does it now make us a good human being? Well, it almost does. We can think of a person with all the above qualities but not believing in God. There is still room for some development. Let us understand by looking at a family with two kids. They have developed with a strong and healthy body; an intelligent and cool mind and live by the moral conduct. They don't fight and keep their things clean and tidy. But do they love and respect their parents? If they don't hug their parents at least once a day then there is something missing.
Spiritual Growth: As kids grow, they need to connect to God - the mother and father of all - not to submit a list of things they want as no parent will be happy to see a child connecting to them only in need. It should be out of pure love and gratitude for so much that we receive from Her every moment. That connection will empower kids with subtle inner strength, power and energy that they will be able to face every circumstances in the future with a sense of confidence and determination. That comes by knowing the true spiritual principles of the eternal entities of God, Soul and Matter following a rational and logical approach.
Cultural Bonding: Besides the subtle spiritual science in the Naitik Shiksha classes, Sanskriti School gives them the cultural moorings via Hindi conversation, Indian instrumental music including Tabla, Vedic Math, public speaking, Yoga, music and dance. They participate in a number of cultural events and contests. They must learn the beautiful culture that has three (and not just one!) unique features: 1) Indian civilization is the only ancient civilization that survives, 2) only one country bears its name among the oceans, the Indian Ocean and 3) the only culture that celebrates the brother-sister pure love!
Be a Part of the Sanskriti School: Under the care of 80+ teachers and volunteers, every child of the Sanskriti School is destined to become a good human being!

I love teaching at DAV Sanskriti school children because they absorb knowledge like a sponge as you teach and reciprocate with their love.
We came to the US when our kids(twins) were 4 years old. We were away from our country and I was worried that my kids would forget their language, values and traditions. We found Arya Samaj when the kids turned six. Not only the kids but we started to love coming here. Our kids learnt so many things .... Performing the havan, learning about Vedic values, traditions, cultures, festivals and knowledge of their motherland. They also learnt how to volunteer and give back to the community.
They have been blessed to have been surrounded by teachers, uncles and aunties at Arya Samaj who showered loads of love and encouragement. Not only our kids, but us as parents also have made many lifelong friends at Arya Samaj. They are graduating now and leave for college this year but with a promise to keep coming back whenever they are in town.
Arya Samaj has now become a part of our lives and we, as parents, are looking forward to staying connected as volunteers.

We started coming to Arya Samaj in July of 1994. We were looking for a Sunday School for our children. Both my children joined DAVSS at the same time. The DAVSS school used to be really small. Praveen Gulati Ji and Munish Gulati Ji used to Naitik Shiksha teacher and Ramesh Dwivedi Ji used to be Hindi teacher. Both our children attended DAVSS regularly for almost 10 years. We are really grateful to DAVSS. my children still remember Sanskriti School for ingratiating all the good Indian values. Charu graduated from DAVSS in 2000 and Sidharth continued to be at the school till 2004. Minu has been associated with DAVSS for almost 20 years and I have tried to do my part in the last 3 years.
- Minu and Ashutosh Garg (Parents)
Our sons Bobby and Neil were one of the first students who graduated from DAV Sanskriti school. They learned Indian culture and values which have continued to shape their lives. They are in San Francisco and New York, highly successful in lives and are still attached to Arya Samaj.
- Aruna and Brij Kathuria (Parents)
Over the years we have found its the best place to have peace and action at the same time! Great learning center for the Hindu culture, for the kids as well as parents!
- Neetu and Gaurav Gupta (Parents)
I will always be grateful for the fact that DAV Sanskriti school gave me a community of both peers who shared the desire to learn more about our heritage and culture and teachers who were willing to impart their knowledge on those topics. The festivals and community events, the weekly satsangs, and the meaningful bonds that I formed in my time in DAVSS (whether friendships or mentor-mentee relationships) have made a positive impact on how I carry myself today.
- Neha Srivastava (Ex. Student)
What impresses me most about DAV school is that it's always growing. When I started in 9th grade, we had a single building and two classes, Naitik Shiksha (moral studies) and Hindi. When I went back to visit after graduating college, the building had doubled in size, and the kids were schooling me in Vedic math and tabla! It's clear the teachers and administrators care deeply about the students, and I'm proud of the continuous improvement of DAV.
- Akash Gupta (Ex. Student)
DAV Sanskriti School is an incredible opportunity for youth to understand their religion, culture, and heritage. It is also a forum for youth to interact and build community with those from similar backgrounds. Ultimately, DAVSS is a shining example of what is possible when folks come together with a common goal of supporting students! Incredible program that changed my life and helped me discover more about my own heritage.
- Neeraj Salhotra (Ex. Student)
I truly enjoy the DAV Sanskriti School's commitment to excellence in education and student development. Having been a part of the school from nearly the inception, I witnessed its development from initially a class size of 5 students sitting in the back of the lunchroom and practicing the Hindi alphabet to now having over 150 students with a dedicated school building, volunteer teachers, and a focused curriculum. Throughout this tremendous growth, DAVSS has been a haven for connecting with my Indian culture, developing language skills, and building lasting relationships. I value the principles I learned during my time with DAVSS and apply them in my every day decision making.

We feel lucky to have DAVSS, as the integral part of Arya Samaj of Greater Houston. Arya Samaj of Greater Houston is one organization, which breaths the philosophy extracted from Vedas. The goal of this organization is to inculcate the human values that are universal not based on one religion or caste. Vedas teach us how one should be leading the life. That is what DAVSS teaches children. The institution tries to keep the children connected to their vedic roots. The treasure of learning Hindi, singing classes, Tabla lessons and much more is the essence of Arya Samaj. We feel so fortunate to have Dr. Kavita ji and Dr. Harish ji imparting their life time spiritual learning with all the students and adults every Sunday. I have been part of DAVSS, in the role of a volunteer for many years.
